What is a podcast?
A podcast is an audio file that people can listen to via their computer, MP3 player or smart phone. Podcasts can be just like a radio programme, and include interviews and book excerpts narrated by a professional actor.
Who is listening to podcasts?
Millions of people around the UK listen to podcasts every week. The latest RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research Measurement) survey on Internet Delivered Audio Services found that 15% of the adult 15+ population have downloaded a podcast. 47% of those users listened to podcasts a least once a week, spending an average of one hour each week listening to them.
Why should I have a podcast?
Podcasts are an engaging and entertaining way to tell readers about your writing and to give them a taste of your latest work through an actor narrating selected excerpts. This can really bring your book to life.
How do I record my podcast?
We can conduct interviews with you via Skype or face-to-face from a comfortable office in central London (Trafalgar Square). Skype connections are very clear - hear an example of a Skype interview (opens a new window). We discuss your chosen book excerpts with you and cast the right actor to narrate them. The interview and narration are then edited together to create your podcast.
What happens next?
Once your podcast has been recorded and edited we make the finished product ready for distribution. You can leave all the technical stuff to us - you do not need any specialist technical knowledge to record and distribute your podcast.
How do people find my podcast?
You can have the podcast linked directly from your website, and/or upload it to a podcast directory, such as iTunes. We can help you with the technical side of things, or liaise with your website technician. We also broadcast the podcasts through our own Talking Bookshelf podcast and create a unique webpage for you: http://yourname.talkingbookshelf.com
